SHIPS PASSING IN THE NIGHT?

in their time wandering from town to town in the Wilds, Shiloh and Jackass assist, antagonize, befriend, charm, and beleaguer many people in stations high and low. although most are simply passing aquantances - someone to share a shelter on a stormy night, someone to pay for the meal, someone to chat with on the job - there are those who didn't forget their face by the next week.

"PENN" PENITENCE

he/him

hunter-in-training, lost to Shiloh and Jackass in their first shooting tourney despite cheating. once tried to reveal shiloh as the Curse.

NOTES

after Shiloh managed to discredit Penn's accusations, he became a boy cried wolf to many of his friends. extremely smug during Shiloh's trial.

the token coverstory

the main reason those Shiloh and Jackass nearly never assume that Shiloh is an infested colony (rather than cursed as they claim) is that it is impossible for the host consciousness to remain after infestation - even those that are told directly initially refuse to believe the circumstances. Additionally, an individual red colony doesn't actually posses a great deal of the 'quirks' that shiloh and jackass do, and inversely CAN do many things they cannot. to an outside observer, the situation really is bizarre enough to be written off as a curse, alongside Shiloh's being branded by the church of the Ninth.

NOTES

anyone who travels regularly through the wilds, even if they arent enough of an idiot to try to leave the trails, is generally considered already on thin ice to stationary folk. someone working such a respectable station as a caravan guard may just as easily turn to bounty hunting, mercenary work, or even banditry after the job is done. it's no surprise that at least a few were foolish enough to get themselves cursed.
